This milestone included field observations (including school visits), common research activities, and a team-building meeting to strengthen collaboration and lay the groundwork for future activities. Additionally, a training session on ethical standards in research was conducted, ensuring compliance and best practices for all project partners.

During the research stay, the University of Silesia team explored the campus infrastructure and actively participated in training seminars focused on developing research tools and analyzing intellectual property law. A dedicated session on ethical standards in research was also conducted, ensuring compliance and best practices among all project partners. The team spent significant time in the Pwani University academic library and had the unique opportunity to attend several lectures alongside University students, gaining firsthand insight into the local academic environment.

The researchers visited several schools with the primary objective of establishing contacts for future research within the framework of the project. Three of the schools observed are located in the suburbs of Mombasa, in the districts of Shanzu, Bombolulu, and Mtwapa. Two schools are situated in the village of Kibarani, attended mainly by children from the Giriama tribe, as well as Luo, Kamba, and Kikuyu communities. Another school is located near the town of Voi, where pupils belong to the Maasai tribe. For European scientists, first visits to Kenyan schools are often a unique and moving experience. Dr. Anna Brosch and Dr. Anna Watoła have visited dozens of schools across Kenya over the years, so they perceive everyday life in Kenyan schools differently. However, for the other members of the team, these encounters were particularly emotional and inspiring. They were deeply touched by the attitude of the children – curious, eager to connect, and always smiling during individual conversations.
