As part of the ongoing development of the GUARDIAN project, a research mobility to Pwani University in Kilifi (Kenya) was carried out in February by the University of Szczecin, with the participation of PhD students Aneta Witosz and Oliwia Bator.
The mobility constituted an important element in developing the research competences of early-career researchers involved in the project, as well as an opportunity to strengthen international collaboration within the GUARDIAN consortium.
The stay included research activities focused on literature analysis and the refinement of the project’s methodological framework. Field visits to Kenyan schools were also an important component of the mobility, providing valuable insight into the local educational context and everyday practices related to children’s functioning in digital environments.
An important aspect of the mobility was the exchange of experiences between early-career researchers. During the stay, meetings were held with PhD candidates from the University of Silesia in Katowice, as well as joint discussions with project partners from Poland and Kenya, which enabled the comparison of research perspectives and the development of a shared approach to the issues under study.
The mobility contributed to a deeper reflection on the cultural determinants of digital childhood and represents an important step towards further comparative research carried out within the GUARDIAN project.
