Exhibition “SoS. A Synesthetic Perspective on Sharenting” in VR space
On May 12, 2026, at 7:00 PM, the virtual exhibition “SoS. A Synesthetic Perspective on Sharenting” took place in a VR environment. The exhibition was developed as part of the GUARDIAN project, Growing online – how to protect our children in the digital world?
The event formed part of the activities carried out during the Month of Conscious Sharenting and invited participants to reflect on the visibility of children in the digital environment, the responsibility of adults, and the consequences of publishing children’s images on social media. The exhibition was conceived as a virtual gallery exploring themes of visibility, childhood, and digital identity. Its concept combines educational, artistic, and ethical perspectives, creating a space for dialogue on privacy, consent, digital footprint, and the child’s future autonomy.
During the event, the main assumptions of the gallery were presented, along with selected visual and poetic works created by contributors associated with the GUARDIAN project. The exhibition guides visitors through symbolic points, including: Touch of the Network, Connection, Center of Attention, Cloud of Gazes, Password: Closeness, Not My Face, Before Speech, In the Cloud, Data Spectrum, CyberTroy, First Trace, Relief, and Continuous Surveillance. Each of these points represents a distinct metaphor reflecting the experience of a child operating within a world of images, data, and algorithmic circuits of visibility.
A key aspect of the initiative is the integration of scientific research with the language of digital art and immersive experience. The virtual gallery offers a way to perceive sharenting as a social, cultural, and educational phenomenon in which gestures of care, memory, and familial closeness can be transformed into a lasting digital record. The exhibition encourages the development of critical media awareness and more mindful decision-making when publishing content involving children.
The VR presentation demonstrated that education on digital safety can take engaging, multisensory, and creative forms. In this way, the GUARDIAN project advances activities that combine research, education, new media art, and social responsibility for the protection of children in the digital world.
